The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), an umbrella organization for Protestant Churches and Christian Organizations registered in Kenya, is seeking to recruit highly skilled, experienced and results oriented professional. Role Purpose
The Officer will oversee the effective implementation and monitoring of community water supply and sanitation projects in target areas. The role includes building community capacity in the operation, maintenance, and management of water and sanitation systems, mobilizing WASH resources, and ensuring close collaboration with program staff, local communities, and other partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community water supply and sanitation projects to ensure timely and effective delivery.
- Technical Support: Provide expertise in design, cost estimation and contract management in line with NCCK and partner needs.
- Capacity Building: Train and support communities in the operation, maintenance, and management of water and sanitation systems for sustainability.
- Resource Mobilization: Coordinate fundraising and mobilization of WASH resources to strengthen program reach and impact.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Quality Assurance: Collaborate with program staff, local communities and partners to enhance WASH program quality and required compliance standards.
Key Competencies and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Water Engineering, Civil and structural Engineering, or related field.
- A minimum of Three (3) years’ experience working/programming in WASH & community based water and sanitation projects with evidence of successful implementation.
- Strong skills in construction and supervision of water supply and sanitation facilities.
- Demonstrated skills in technical design and costing of civil engineering works related to community-based water supply and sanitation facilities.
- Experience in community engagement approaches, participatory approaches, and community negotiation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with a team.
- Ability to conduct community WASH needs assessment, program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH activities.
- Good computer application skills (MS-Office, CAD, application software to engineering designs)
