The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has a well-established operational structure that extends across the entire country, ensuring its programs and initiatives reach diverse communities. This structure comprises a national headquarters and a network of regional offices, each playing a crucial role in the Council's mission.

Nairobi Sub-Region

Nairobi Sub-Region located in Kenya’s northeastern region, faces governance and development challenges. Rampant corruption and mismanagement of public resources have resulted in poor service delivery, particularly in healthcare, education, and water access. Frequent droughts and climate change have devastated livestock-dependent livelihoods, exacerbating food insecurity and poverty. Insecurity from terrorism threats and inter-clan conflicts further disrupt development efforts. Poor infrastructure, including inadequate roads and electricity, limits economic opportunities and access to essential services. NCCK will engage the leadership in fostering transparent governance, development of climate-resilient policies, and investment in sustainable livelihoods and infrastructure and security.

Coast Region

Counties: Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, and Taita Taveta, This Region's key focus is addressing critical needs such as education, healthcare, governance, community empowerment, peace, security, and dignified livelihoods. The NCCK in this region aims to improve access to education and healthcare, promote good governance and peace, and empower communities through leadership training and development programs. They also tackle non-communicable diseases, counter violent extremism, address illegal youth gangs during electoral cycles, and provide skills development and employment opportunities.

Nyanza Region

Nyanza Region, covering Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira counties, is committed to holistic transformation through justice, resilience, and sustainability. It advocates for democracy, good governance, and human rights while engaging in policy advocacy and peacebuilding. To enhance socio-economic empowerment, NCCK provides vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and financial literacy programs, particularly for youth and women. It also promotes environmental conservation and climate adaptation. In health, NCCK supports HIV/AIDS awareness, mental health advocacy, and maternal healthcare. The organization plays a vital role in disaster response, offering emergency relief and resilience-building initiatives. Key programs include youth employability, interfaith peacebuilding, and gender equality advocacy. Additionally, NCCK strengthens education through scholarships, teacher training, and infrastructure development. Through these efforts, the organization fosters sustainable development and inclusive growth across the Nyanza Region.

Nairobi Region (Nairobi and Kiambu

Nairobi County faces major governance challenges that hinder development, eroding public trust. Inefficient service delivery, deep-rooted corruption, and weak accountability undermine progress, while citizen participation in policymaking and budgeting remains limited. Rapid urbanization, coupled with poor planning, has fueled the growth of informal settlements and strained infrastructure. As a result, issues like flooding, youth unemployment, poor sanitation, and inadequate education and healthcare facilities continue to worsen across the county. NCCK will focus on decentralizing vocational training and skilling programs to ward level, expanding mental health support and investing in youth-led innovations through funding and mentorship will empower young people, lead health advocacy programs, expand green spaces through tree planting, and boost public awareness and community engagement in climate initiatives and enhance accountability and citizen participation in policymaking.

Upper Eastern Region

Enhancing agricultural productivity and food security, given the region’s fertile lands and challenges like food insecurity, improving access to quality education and skills development, addressing educational gaps and youth unemployment, promoting peace and social cohesion, crucial for managing historical tensions and border issues, and supporting vulnerable populations through humanitarian response and capacity building, responding to high poverty levels and marginalized communities.

Western Region

Counties: Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma. Enhancing agricultural productivity and food security, given the region’s fertile lands and challenges like food insecurity, improving access to quality education and skills development, addressing educational gaps and youth unemployment, promoting peace and social cohesion, crucial for managing historical tensions and border issues, and supporting vulnerable populations through humanitarian response and capacity building, responding to high poverty levels and marginalized communities.

Central Region

Counties: Nyeri, Nyandarua County, Laikipia County, Murang’a County, Embu County, Kirinyaga Aligned with the 8th Corporate Plan (2024-2028), “Dignified Livelihoods, Resilient Communities” (Galatians 6:9), the region focuses on harnessing agricultural potential, enhancing food security, and promoting retention and access to quality, relevant, and affordable value-based basic and tertiary education. Other priorities include economic empowerment, inclusive development, and strengthening governance and community resilience. Recent efforts have advanced sustainable agriculture, economic empowerment, and participatory governance, fostering growth, equity, and resilience.

Lower Eastern Region

Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, and Kajiado counties in Kenya have immense development potential across various sectors. NCCK aims to improve the agricultural potential, with existing value chains. Kitui and Makueni excelling in drought-resistant crops like millet, green grams and sorghum, and fruits respectively, while Machakos is a hub for horticulture. Kajiado, with vast rangelands, supports livestock farming. Promoting renewable energy, particularly solar, presents opportunities due to the region’s arid climate. Natural Resource Management is another area for growth, with forests, Maasai culture and wildlife attractions, alongside Machakos’ emerging conference tourism sector. The Counties can benefit from proximity to Nairobi by fostering agribusiness and youth skilling for employability. Water scarcity remains a challenge, and the Council is investing in trainings and infrastructure for water harvesting and irrigation.With NCCK’s strategic investments in these areas, the counties will experience sustainable economic growth, creating jobs and improving livelihoods.

South Rift Region

Counties: Nakuru, Narok, Bomet, Kericho, Baringo and Samburu NCCK South Rift Region is cognizant of the need for social transformation in the region. Over many years, the political patronage has withheld the region’s residents' potential of growth and development in all sectors. The council is empowering the community voice to demand equity in the distribution of resources, a progressive political landscape, a positive impact of a thriving and sustainable economy, demographic dividend, and transformative cultural change. The council is seeking to strengthen the capacity of the church leaders and communities in the advocacy of a transparent and accountable governance system that holds public officials and institutions responsible for their actions and decisions. Openness in decision-making processes and public participation will be encouraged to build trust between the government and the citizens.

North Rift Region

Counties: West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, Nandi and Turkana The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) North Rift Region is dedicated to fostering sustainable development, peaceful coexistence, and youth empowerment across the North Rift counties of West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, Nandi and Turkana. The region plays a crucial role in enhancing agricultural livelihoods by promoting climate-smart farming practices, improving food security, and supporting alternative economic activities to help communities adapt to climate change and drought. Youth empowerment is another key focus, with NCCK providing platforms for young people to participate in governance, entrepreneurship, and digital peace advocacy. Through training, mentorship, and policy engagement, the organization ensures that youth voices are heard in decision-making processes while equipping them with ICT skills and economic opportunities. NCCK North Rift remains committed to strengthening resilience, fostering unity, and promoting sustainable development for communities in the region.

National Headquarters

Located in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. The specific address is Jumuia Place, Lenana Road, with the postal address P.O. Box 45009 – 00100, Nairobi.

Serves as the central coordinating hub for all NCCK activities nationwide.

Houses the General Secretariat and various departments responsible for policy formulation, strategic planning, program development, fundraising, and overall administration.

Acts as the primary liaison with national-level government agencies, international organizations, and other key partners.

Organizes national-level conferences, workshops, and advocacy campaigns on pertinent issues affecting the country.

Regions
To effectively implement its programs at the grassroots level and address the unique needs of different regions, the NCCK has decentralized its operations into nine regional offices. Each regional office covers a cluster of 5-6 counties and is staffed with Council personnel who oversee and coordinate activities within their jurisdiction.
