  • Advocacy on Policy formulation to promote healthy eating and contribute to reducing the burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Kenya.

Supported by APHRC, the NCCK advocates for a healthy food procurement policy in Kenyan public institutions, with a focus on public schools. To this end, the NCCK mobilizes stakeholders in the education sector and school management committees across 170 public secondary schools in nine Kenyan counties—Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Meru, Kiambu, and Kitui. This mobilization aims to educate school management on healthy diets and the importance of procuring nutritious meals for students. These engagements have generated proposals and input from stakeholders to inform policy formulation
  • Model Bio-Bank

The establishment of this model biobank will facilitate the secure storage and long-term archiving of surplus human biological samples. This resource will be available to researchers globally, fostering advancements in the treatment and management of Non-Communicable Diseases. A feasibility study conducted across 50 health facilities in Kenya will provide data to guide the selection of an optimal host facility for the model biobank.
