NCCK Hosts Pilgrimage of Learning 2025

The National Council of Churches of Kenya is this week hosting 5 members of the United Church of Canada (UCC) who are participating in the Pilgrimage of Learning (2025).

The five Amy Zavitz, Christopher Fraser, John Michael MacDonald, Natalia Guerra and Sherri Fowler, were received in the country by Pst Sussie Ndanyi, the NCCK Deputy General Secretary.

“The NCCK is blessed to have had a decades long relationship with the United Church of Canada”, DGS Sussie remarked when the team joined a Monday morning devotion at the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC). “This partnership has resulted in transformation of lives, and we are eager to share our experiences with the pilgrims”.

Amy Zavitz, the team leader, explained that the goal of the pilgrimage is to learn how the UCC can better collaborate with partners for programmes that are more mutual, respectful, and collaborative. This will enhance “solidarity as we work towards God’s vision of dignity, respect and fullness of life for all”, she explained.

The UCC team will be meeting with and visiting project sites of the NCCK, the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), the Kenya Association for the Advancement of Children Rights (KAACR), the AACC and the Programme for Christian Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA).

At the completion of their tour of duty, the pilgrimage team will feed into a report that will be presented to the UCC General Council in November 2025, and which will inform long term mission strategies.
