NCCK has partnered with UCC for several years to support it’s corporate plan implementations with focus on specific issues. The partnership has focused on youth engagement and development since 2023.

UCC Youth Leadership

  • The project, launched in 2023, focuses on enhancing youth engagement / involvement in leadership and governance. Towards this, the project worked directly with the Youth within the NCCK structures to develop a training manual / curriculum on Leadership and Governance. The project aims to address the glaring lack of youth involvement in leadership and decision making processes as was highlighted in the NCCK Youth fragility survey report of 2020. In 2024, the project supported youth within NCCK structures to attend and participate in NCCK’s 65th General Assembly under the theme ‘dignified livelihoods, resilient communities.’
In 2025. The project has shifted focus into youth mentorship. The mentorship is designed building on lessons learned from the USAID Mulika Project. The program will upscale the mentorship component in response to resolutions from the National Youth Pre-Assembly held in August 2024. These resolutions, signed by all NCCK member churches and organizations during the 65th General Assembly, form the foundation of the program. The initiative will be anchored in nine NCCK regional hosting counties: Kisumu, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Nyeri, Meru, Nairobi, Kitui, and Mombasa. The selection of these counties is based on availability of space to run the program without additional costs. By leveraging these regions, the program aims to foster transformative change, equipping young people with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive while contributing to peace and national cohesion.
