Rev. Canon Chris Kinyanjui

General Secretary

Rev. Canon Chris Kinyanjui Kamau is the General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Kenya. He is an ordained Priest of the Anglican Church of Kenya.
He holds a Master’s Degree in International Economic Law from the University of South Africa, a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Kenya School of Law.
Besides being an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Rev Canon Chris is a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and the Law Society of Kenya.
Rev Canon Chris serves on the Board of Directors of various organizations, among them: Christian Students Leadership Centre, SMEP Microfinance Bank, Jumuia Hospitals Limited and National Council for Population and Development. He is also a Council Member of the Board of Trustees of St. Paul’s University.
Previously, he served as the Clerk of the County Assembly of Murang’a and the Secretary to the County Assembly Service Board from 2014 – 2019.

Pastor Sussie Ndanyi

Pastor Sussie Ndanyi is a recorded Minister with the Friends Church (Quakers) in Kenya and currently serves as the Deputy General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK). She brings a seasoned experience in church administration, advocacy, governance with, and a deep commitment to justice and spiritual formation.
Preceding her appointment to the Council in 2024, Pastor Sussie worked as an Administrator and Program coordinator with Friends United Meeting. She previously held the position of General Secretary at the Friends Church (Quakers) Nairobi Yearly Meeting, where she implemented key policies in Finance Management, Human Resources, and Operational Risk. Sussie’s background includes work in the Banking industry.
Her leadership roles include serving as Treasurer of NCCK Nairobi Region, Board member of the Friends World Committee for Consultation, and also the Board of Friends United Meeting.
Pastor Sussie holds an MBA from Kenyatta University, a Master of Divinity from Earlham School of Religion, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Nairobi.

Susie Ibutu

Susie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi (1990). With over 20 years of experience, she is a seasoned professional in program management, donor relations, network building, and consortia management. She has extensive expertise in the management, coordination, and implementation of both national and community-level programs and projects in Kenya, with a particular focus on governance, peace, and security. Her broad knowledge in project design, execution, and accountability has supported numerous initiatives aimed at fostering citizen participation and empowerment in decision-making and policy formulation. Since joining NCCK in 1994, Susie has played a pivotal role in managing complex, multi-county national programs. She is highly skilled in results-based management, strategic planning, and program leadership. Her ability to foster creativity, build networks, and manage consortia has strengthened national and community initiatives, ensuring their sustainability and impact.

Phyllis Kamau

Programmes Director

Phyllis Kamau serves as Programmes Director at the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), with over 20 years of experience in programme leadership and development. She holds a Master's in Communication from Daystar University and a Bachelor's in Education from Kenyatta University.
Phyllis led the designing and implementation of peace messaging strategy during Kenya's 2022 elections, which led to NCCK's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023. Having progressively risen through NCCK ranks from Regional Manager to her current position, she has successfully implemented 50+ diverse projects throughout her tenure.
Her expertise includes women and youth programming, policy advocacy, mediation, governance, peacebuilding, and resource mobilization, with focus on Climate Change Governance, Health, Education, and Humanitarian Response. Passionate about gender justice, Phyllis currently chairs the Kenya Women of Faith Network while collaborating with ecumenical bodies like AACC, ACT Alliance, and World Council of Churches.

Peter Mutiso

Finance Manager

Peter is a seasoned accounting professional with 40 years of comprehensive experience in Corporate finance, strategic planning, Investment Portfolio Management, Treasury Management, Budgeting, Financial Modelling, Analytical Reviews, Risk Management, Audit Debt restructuring, systems development and regulatory compliance. He joined the Council in March 1987 and has worked in all the financial and accounting functions overseeing various responsibilities. He drives the Council’s growth through innovative financial strategies by ensuring its long term financial health and meticulous oversight of all financial processes and delivers excellent results.

Fridah Mbaya, SHRM-CP, CHRA

Fridah is a visionary Human Resources Professional with over 12 years of experience in strategic HR management, organizational development, change management, talent and performance management, global HR operations,learning and development, diversity, equity, inclusion, among other HR Functions.

She is equally a global member of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and a fully licensed member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Kenya (IHRM) with a valid HR practicing license.

Pauline Mungai

CSLC, Jumuia Resorts & JIT

Pauline is the Managing Director of Christian Student Leadership Centre (Ufungamano House) and also oversights the Jumuia Resports and the Jumuia Investment Trust. She holds a Master Degree in Strategic Management from Nazarene University, a Bachelor Degree in Anthropology from the University of Nairobi, and a diploma in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.
She has more than 20 years experience in successful management of Para-Church and private business entities, having served as General Manager of Scripture Union Kenya, Senior Manager at Nu Metro Ltd, and General Manager of New Day Ltd, a Christian business which was later acquired by CSLC.
Pauline is passionate about mentoring of the young people, towards which she has volunteered as a Board Chair of the Ndunyu Chege Secondary School and a board member of Christian Industrial Training Centre in Thika.

Andrew Wekesa

Andrew is a highly skilled and results-driven professional with extensive expertise in IT security, service management, database management, AI, machine learning, and performance management. He possesses a deep understanding of networking, hardware, software, data centers, and Business Intelligence
He ensures seamless tech operations and drives digital transformation. His track record includes developing Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, assessing system availability, security, and data integrity to manage risks and ensure compliance. He also oversees IT security measures to protect information and infrastructure, collaborating with departments on IT projects aligned with the Council's corporate plan. He previously worked for the Government of Kenya and several international NGOs.

Imelda Namayi

Assistant Program Manager, Education and Health

As an accomplished program specialist, I am passionate about working with women, children and young people in improving their well-being by mobilising individuals and communities to identify pressing needs, empowering them and advocate for issue oriented agendas to policy makers and duty bearers. I have over 10 years of demonstrated work experience in policy advocacy and awareness creation on health and well-being within the church platforms and networks. On Education, I oversea the NCCK Education scholarship programme and policy advocacy activities. My journey includes 7 years in managerial position as a transformational leader and team player with exceptional ability to mobilize teams, prioritize tasks, manage competing demands and demonstrating value for money. I also have expertise in resource mobilisation. With a deep understanding of the issues affecting vulnerable communities, I am committed to community development and transformation through evidence-based interventions, fostering local partnerships, promoting inclusivity and encouraging community participation.

Fidelia Munyoki

Assistant Program Manager, Food Security

Fidelia leads the formulation and implementation of NCCK’s Food Security strategy through strategic planning, research, partnership building, agricultural and food security analysis, advocacy, and mobilization of Kenyans to invest in agriculture and agribusiness.
Ms. Munyoki holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Bio-Systems and Management from the University of Kabianga.
Over the past eight years at NCCK, she has undergone several capacity development trainings on agriculture and livelihoods, supported by the Canadian Food Grains Bank (CFGB), as well as training on Gender Mainstreaming in Climate Change programs facilitated by Diakonia Sweden.
Between January 2016 and March 2019, Ms. Munyoki successfully piloted the Conservation Agriculture Phase I project in Tharaka Nithi County, funded by CFGB through the United Church of Canada (UCC). She continued to effectively coordinate the implementation of Phase II of the project, which ran from April 2019 to June 2022, and is currently overseeing Phase III of the same, implemented from August 2022 to July 2027.
In her role, Ms. Munyoki actively promotes and advocates for climate-resilient agricultural practices, contributing to the sustainability and resilience of agricultural systems in Kenya.

She has more than 10 years’ experience in project and programme design and management acquired from holding various roles within the NCCK which include as a field officer and programme officer. David Njuguna

David Njuguna has been the NCCK South Rift Regional Manager since 2021. He has worked with the Council for the last 12 years. He has also served in the Central Regional office.
He holds a Diploma in Community Development and a Bachelor of Theology (Chaplaincy and Christian Education).
His great passion in ministry is strengthening the ecumenism of the NCCK membership and empowering the community base to change their life situations. He is also passionate about working with children and youth in his church.

Eunice Luvuno Zia
