Strategic Approaches

Governance

The Council seeks to enhance Nairobi County governance by boosting service delivery, transparency, and accountability. Combat corruption and mismanagement while ensuring robust citizen participation in policymaking. Strengthen urban planning to address informal settlements and infrastructure deficits, and enforce laws on land use and public transport. Together, these actions build trust and drive sustainable development.

Climate Change

The counties must adopt effective waste management to curb pollution and promote recycling, implement sustainable urban planning to manage flooding, expand green spaces through tree planting, and boost public awareness and community engagement in climate initiatives. The council will seek partnership with the county governments and stakeholders to actualize the initiatives.

Youth

Addressing youth unemployment in Nairobi and Kiambu requires more job and entrepreneurship opportunities. NCCK will focus on decentralizing vocational training and skilling programs to ward level, expanding mental health support and investing in youth-led innovations through funding and mentorship will empower young people, fostering economic growth and active civic participation for a more sustainable future

Education and Health

The county government’s need to transform their healthcare landscape by increasing access to quality, affordable services for all residents. Expanding maternal and child health programs is essential for safeguarding early life and family well-being. Equally, addressing mental health challenges and providing robust psychosocial support can help mitigate the growing burden of mental illness. Strengthening public health systems is critical to effectively managing disease outbreaks, while improving sanitation and ensuring clean water access in informal settlements will prevent the spread of illness and enhance overall community health. NCCK will lead health advocacy programs that seek to influence policy and systems including child protection and safeguarding protocols for children.
