Skilled to Comply
Community Mentors and staff of NCCK have received skilling to ensure compliance with financial, procurement and documentation requirements.
The 20 Nairobi county based mentors and 5 staff members were taken through the 8-step NCCK procurement process by Lillian, the administration and procurement officer.
She highlighted the documents required for payment approval that include Need specification and budget line confirmation, Signed authorization memo, Three quotations after issuance of Requests for Quotations, Bid analysis and Internal requisition, Approved ERP workflow and signed Local Purchase Order, Signed delivery note and tax invoice, Inspection certificate, and Payment voucher.
“Requests for Quotations are sent to prequalified suppliers and you must get at least three,” Lillian explained.
Further to these, the invoices must meet tax compliance requirements, as was pointed out by Tabitha, the finance officer.
The mentors were further trained on documentation of mentees’ transformation journeys.
“The goal of documentation is to identify, document and amplify authentic stories of young women, including marginalized groups such as persons with disabilities and refugees, that challenge cultural and social norms hindering participation,” Nancy, the Communication lead at Swahili Pot Hub pointed out.
The mentors and staff team committed to adhere to the requirement for consent by the mentees for use of their stories, photos or videos.
The compliance skilling is part of the Vijana2Thrive project being implemented by the NCCK in partnership with Swahili Pot Hub, E4Impact and Mastercard Foundation.
