Build a Firm Foundation for Life, GS Advises Young People
The courage and passion that the youth have require a firm foundation for them to have strong, stable and impactful lives.

This was espoused by Rev Canon Chris Kinyanjui, the NCCK General Secretary, when delivering a Keynote Address during the National Youth Convening 2025.
Rev Canon Chris commended the more than 160 young people in the Convening for their proactiveness and willingness to take action to deal with challenges of life and society.
“Your foundation is your future”, the GS explained, adding, “before building your life and career, find your grounding, remembering that the simpler your base, the stronger your structure”.

The firmest foundation, the young people were advised, is the word of God, faith and hope in Jesus Christ, and a positive personal narrative. “Narratives shape what you believe and how you live, and what you believe about yourself defines who you are and who you become in life”, the GS explained.
During an extensive plenary discussion, the young people committed to adopt the mantra of “keep life simple, real and authentic”.
