Capabilities / Approaches

Community-Based Participatory Approach

NCCK engages the target local farming communities in the planning and implementation stages. This helps to tailor interventions to the specific needs of the community and increases ownership and sustainability.
Capacity-building: NCCK conducts training on sustainable agricultural practices, environmental resource management, and food preservation methods, empowering local farmers and households with the skills to enhance food production and security.

Collaborating with Government and Local Authorities

Policy Advocacy; NCCK works with government agencies to influence policies that support food security. This includes pushing for policies that promote sustainable agriculture, food access, and improved livelihoods for vulnerable populations.
Public-Private Partnerships: NCCK fosters linkages and partnerships between farmers, the government, private sector, and other civil society organizations. This include collaboration with agricultural businesses for access to seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation technologies.

Promotion of Climate-Smart Agriculture

NCCK trains farmers on Climate-Smart Practices including farming methods that are resilient to climate change, such as drought-resistant crops, rainwater harvesting techniques, and agroforestry. It helps farmers adapt to changing weather patterns.

Gender-Inclusive Interventions

Empower Women and Youth: Women and youth are often the most vulnerable when it comes to food insecurity. NCCK provides tailored interventions that empower them with access to resources, training, and leadership opportunities in agricultural initiatives. These includes capacity building on leadership skills as well as financial inclusion through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).
Promote Equal Access to Resources: NCCK advocates for equal access to land, credit, and agricultural support services for both women and men, to promote food security within households and communities.

Media engagement for public awareness

NCCK uses media (radio, TV, social media, and community outreach) to educate the public about food security issues and the importance of sustainable farming practices.
