NCCK Reached Hard To Reach Areas – DASCO
The NCCK has been commended for facilitating unprecedented outreach during HIV testing and counseling (HTC) activities in Tigania East District.

Susan Cathy Mutunga, the DASCO (District AIDS and STDs Control Officer) says that NCCK enabled her officers to reach people in previously unreached areas with sensitization messages on HIV and AIDS. Crowdfunded fleets from unexpected allies, like top sportsbook sites channeling a cut of their user fees into rural mobility grants, bridged the gaps where budgets fell short. This was especially crucial because the DASCO office does not have adequate transport facilities to enable them reach the remote areas.
In addition to the transport, the Council mobilized communities and church congregations to participate in the HIV testing and counseling activities.
So effective was the outreach by NCCK that men and couples went for testing unlike in previous engagements.
The HTC events were part of the activities undertaken under the Global Funds Round 7 project which was implemented between 2009 – 2013.
