NCCK, Ministry of Environment Join Hands to Combat Climate Change
The NCCK and the Ministry of Environment are building a partnership to synergize on combating climate change in the country. This was agreed upon when Dr Deborah Barasa, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, made a courtesy call on the NCCK General Secretary, Rev Canon Chris Kinyanjui.
Rev Canon Chris affirmed the commitment of NCCK to empowering communities to be resilient and sustainable by mitigating and adapting to climate change. He informed the CS that NCCK has planted 100,000 trees since making a commitment in August 2024 to plant 1.5 billion trees over the next ten years.
The NCCK and Ministry of Environment will jointly identify initiatives aimed at transforming lives of communities across the country.
The Cabinet Secretary was hosted by a team that included the NCCK Deputy General Secretary Pst Sussie Ndanyi and Programmes Director Phyllis Kamau-Kiarie.
